Helping HDR students know what to expect on their research journey

The initial brief was to produce ten videos (5-7 minutes in length) showcasing different perspectives on higher degree research from across the university. These videos would serve as the introduction to online learning modules covering a range of topics such as ethics, academic writing, research methods and methodologies, academic integrity and where to find support.

Our team worked closely with the Graduate Research team to identify interviewees, scout locations, and capture engaging interviews with a range of staff and/or students giving their perspectives on various topics.

The intended audience for this project was PhD and Masters students at the University of Newcastle. These students come from a wide range of disciplines and have diverse backgrounds and interests. The purpose of the project is to provide these students with an engaging and informative introduction to Higher Degree Research and aim to assist students in understanding what to expect on their research journey.

The success of this project led to various iterations of similar projects being commissioned in subsequent years. We are proud to have supported Graduate Research at UON in their mission to provide effective HDR training and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
